Students are to ensure that the dissertation/thesis/article is thoroughly proofread and meets the necessary presentation standards before submission to your supervisor/promoter. This does not mean that you need to use a professional proofreader or editor, but unless you or a friend are very good at proofreading and editing, it is usually recommended that you use a professional language editor.

You will need to pay for this service out of your personal /bursary fund, so don’t spend all your money before you are ready to submit your dissertation/thesis. Kindly refer to the attached list of editors on this page.

Note that while the Writing Centre can sometimes (depending on availability) work with your supervisor to give you feedback (free of charge) on the content and focus of your writing, it does not do final language-editing or proofreading.
