Eligibilty:

  • Registered Masters and Doctoral students
  • Students registered on a full-time basis for the 2024 academic year
  • South African citizens only
  • Primarily in the fields of Sciences, Engineering and Education
  • Students in the following disciplines are also eligible to apply but preference will be given to students in the SET disciplines:
    • Pharmacy
    • Psychology
    • Social Work
    • Human Movement Science and Biokinetics
    • Dietetics
  • Applications will be short-listed based on both academic merit and financial need
  • Minimum academic average of 60% for the previous degree

 

Documents to accompany application form:

  • Attachment 1: Latest pay slips of parents/spouse/self; or letter from employer stating gross salary; or letter from parents' pension fund, stating gross annual income. If the applicant/parent(s) is unemployed, an affidavit must be submitted to confirm this (as per funder’s requirements)
  • Attachment 2: Copy of estimation of student fees account showing cost of studies for the 2024 academic year (Obtainable from the Department of student accounts)
  • Attachment 3: Complete and latest academic record (Official copy required – obtainable from the department of student records)
  • Attachment 4: Official Proof of registration for 2024 (obtainable from the department of student records)
  • Attachment 5: A certified copy of your ID

 

Renewals:
Please note that students who have received this scholarship in 2023 and would like to be considered for a renewal of the scholarship in 2024, must submit a new application. Students that have already received 3 years of funding from the Trust (irrespective of level of qualification), are not eligible to apply for funding in 2024.

 

Application Process:
Applications must be submitted via email in clearly named pdf files as indicated in the attachment list (see documents section above) to Ms Itumeleng Zosela by no later than 4h30pm on 5th April 2024. The subject line of the email must be marked “DORMEHL CUNNINGHAM_(your name)_(your student number)"

Incomplete and late applications will unfortunately not be considered.

Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. If you have not received a notification that you are shortlisted for the scholarship by the 15th May 2024, please accept that you have not made the short-list.
