Facilitator: : Prof David Katerere is the Research Platform Chair for Pharmaceutical and Biotech Advancement in Africa (PBA2) at Tshwane University of Technology and Chair of PharmaConnect Africa, a non-profit organisation which is a premier convenor of the pharmaceutical industry in Africa.

 

Target Group: Masters, Doctoral Candidates and Postdoctoral Fellows

 

Background: This workshop aims to highlight the skills and networks required in building a national and international research career. It will discuss strategies for building and managing your research journey and career at early and mid-stage and what resources and support are required, and from whom. It will also discuss important aspects around CV design, social media profile and strategic positioning for employment.

 

Expected Outcomes:

  • Enhance understanding of postgraduate project management
  • Responding to thesis examiners and journal peer reviewers
  • Understand the role of networking and communities of practice in career development
  • Appropriate CV design for researchers
  • How to build a research profile and enhance employability
