Facilitator: Dr Warren Brettenny is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Statistics at Nelson Mandela University. He completed his PhD in Mathematical Statistics at NMMU with a focus on statistical methods for efficiency assessments. Dr Brettenny is the President of the South African Statistical Association and currently focuses his research on Machine Learning and Data Science applications, specifically in the field of renewable energy and finance.
Target Group: Postgraduate Students and Staff
Background: This is an intermediate statistics course focused on training in the application of methods to perform elementary and intermediate data science and analytics tasks including regression analyses and classification. A review of data wrangling and data visualisation methods will also be covered. This training course will be of benefit to any postgraduate student who is required to perform analysis on their research data and gain an understanding of data science and analytics.
