Facilitators: Prof David Katerere is the Research Platform Chair for Pharmaceutical and Biotech Advancement in Africa (PBA2) at Tshwane University of Technology and Chair of PharmaConnect Africa, a non-profit organisation which is a premier convenor of the pharmaceutical industry in Africa.

 

Target Group: The workshop is organised as a two-day hands-on workshop on journal publication writing particularly suited to postgraduate students and early-career researchers.
 

The objectives of the workshop are to introduce and provide the participants with knowledge and straegies which will allow them to:

  • Conceptualise their research ideas
  • Understand the basics of journal publication
  • Differentiate between different types of journal publications and select the appropriate types
  • Understand the submission and peer review process
  • Create awareness on ethics and research integrity
  • Use social media for promoting research publications
  • Gain confidence in academic writing and science communication in general

Prerequisites for attending the course: The workshop is highly interactive, and participants are asked to complete the pre-course assignments. Continued mentoring is also offered after the course.
