Facilitator: Mrs Monique van der Walt (MA Research Psychology), a professional research psychologist, has acquired a vast amount of knowledge in research methodologies and, more specifically, has mastered a variety of qualitative research approaches through consultation on various projects in higher education and the private sector. Mrs van der Walt has acquired a strong work ethic that is evident in work carried out through her services as the business owner of Liminal Research Consult (registered as Liminal Research Qual), which provides training and consultation to higher academic students and staff mostly related to quality workshops, including but not limited to different universities such as UNISA, University of Pretoria, UJ and UFS. Monique has also been a certified professional ATLAS.ti trainer/consultant for the past six years, to train individuals interested in qualitative analysis.


Target Group: Postgraduate students and researchers who are planning to conduct qualitative analysis using interviews.

 

Background: ATLAS.ti v23 is a qualitative data analysis software used as a workbench for qualitative analysis of large bodies of textual, graphical, audio and video data. This workshop will allow attendees to become familiar with the software's layout and become accustomed to coding processes in ATLAS.ti.

  • Overview of qualitative research designs
  • Conducting focus groups and interviews
  • Thematic analysis
  • Coding in ATLAS.ti
