WORKSHOP 3 : CV and LinkedIn
Facilitator: In the past two decades Ms Huba Boshoff has built a career in the higher education sector with a focus on global perspectives. She's worked in the field of student development, programme development and accreditation, quality assurance and internationalisation. Her professional roles include being the Manager of the Center for Partnerships and Internationalisation at Stellenbosch University, where the portfolio included partnership management, strategy development and information management. In her work for Nuffic, the Dutch education organisation, she serves as the part-time director for Nuffic in Southern Africa with a specific focus on fostering innovative models of collaboration in internationalisation and international development between South Africa (and other African countries) and the Netherlands. She has also worked intensively on student development establishing the Unit for Multiculturalism (also at Stellenbosch University), reviewing student leadership structures and support mechanisms and crafting interventions that engage students both inside and outside the classroom. In 2022, Huba established The Knowledge Collab as a platform to pursue consulting work that is based on the principles of trust, creativity, and impact.
Target Group: nGAP Scholars, Future Professors Programme Candidates and Selected Emerging Researchers
Background: In the third workshop the focus will be on personal positioning and networking. These two skills are crucial for any international experience and forms part of the skillset of the 21st century and Vitae Researcher Framework. The workshop will be an interactive session that focus on crafting two outputs for each participant:

New/updated CV

New/updated personal LinkedIn profile
The workshop will touch on the types and formats of CVs and assist participants to review their own CVs and create a bespoke version with additional ideas on how to adapt their CV for specific situations and opportunities. The second element is to create a personal LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn remains one of the foremost professional social media platforms. The workshop will enable participants to construct a LinkedIn profile that enhances their visibility and contributes to network building. The workshop will also consider specific elements of CVs and LinkedIn that relate to the researcher profile such as ResearchGate.
Expected outcomes: Enhanced networking skills and tools including CV writing and personal LinkedIn profiles.
