Facilitator: This workshop will be presented by Prof Gary Sharp, an academic in the Department of Statistics at Nelson Mandela University. Prof Sharp has many years of lecturing experience and has presented similar workshops over the years internally and externally.

 

Target Group: Masters and Doctoral Candidates

 

Background: This course will suit candidates who have collected quantitative data for their research project and need guidance on how to analyse the data in a regression framework.

 

Workshop Outcomes:

  • Expand on the basic regression model’s candidates are usually exposed to at an introductory level.
  • The emphasis of the workshop will be on running an analysis, learning to interpret the outputs, testing assumptions of the models, all using the university licensed software, SPSS.

Requirements: Candidates who attend this workshop should be familiar with at least one standard statistical software package, i.e. SPSS, SAS, R or STATISTICA. In addition, it is strongly advised that candidates are familiar with simple linear regression and have been exposed to interpretations of correlation coefficients and confidence intervals.
