Manadatory Proof of Ethics Training for Ethical Clearance Applications
To All Staff, Students, and Researchers,
In accordance with the updated 2024 National Department of Health (NDoH) ethics guidelines , effective April 1, 2025, all researchers and their supervisors applying for ethical clearance must submit proof of completed research ethics training as part of their application. Upon completing the training assessments, certificates must be downloaded and uploaded as evidence of ethics training in the MEOS system. Please note that certificates of attendance are NOT acceptable.
Approved sources for ethics training include TRREE (Introduction to Research Ethics and the South African module, which covers the national framework), Macquarie, the Global Health Network, and others. Please visit the Ethics website for links to recommended training programmes.
