Facilitator: Dr Nolunkcwe Bomela holds a PhD in Sociology, specializing in Social Demography. She was Director of Research Management at Nelson Mandela University until retirement in 2017. Her current research focus areas are maternal mortality, child malnutrition and aging. She has published in several journals and serves as peer reviewer for international journals. She has also successfully supervised several Honours, Masters and PhD students.
Target Group: Emerging Researchers, Masters and Doctoral Candidates.
Background: The workshop aims to introduce participants into the world of quantitative research, as well as develop foundational quantitative research design, knowledge, and skills. The workshop will cover the basic principles of the quantitative research process and concepts relevant to quantitative research. The experimental, quasi-experimental, correlational, and descriptive designs will be examined in detail. Different data collection and sampling techniques will also be examined.
Expected Outcomes:
This workshop is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) through the University Capacity Development Grant (UCDG)
