The Office of Research Development offers training opportunities to enhance the development of postgraduate students and staff.
Workshops and courses are held annually from February to December and are based on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework.
This Framework encompasses the knowledge, intellectual abilities, techniques and professional standards to do research, as well as the personal qualities, knowledge and skills to work with others and ensure the wider impact of research.
This training is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) through the University Capacity Development Grant (UCDG).
The training is open to all Nelson Mandela University staff, postdoctoral fellows and registered postgraduate students.
All workshops will be presented face-to-face unless stipulated otherwise.
Any queries can be addressed to Ms Jadine Januarie.

The 2023 workshop training schedule shows all workshops presented throughout the year by the Office of Research Development. An overview of each workshop is provided along with a profile of the facilitator.
All workshops will be presented face-to-face unless stipulated otherwise.
Registration for the workshops is via an online form and forms will be made available on the individual workshop pages on the RD Workshop Calendar as the registration process for each workshop opens. Workshops will advertised on MEMO and the RD Facebook page.
Students are required to discuss the attendance of the workshops with their manager/supervisor to ensure that they may be released for the duration of the workshop. Due to limited capacity we kindly request that you do not register for a workshop unless your attendance is certain.
