Background: A literature review is a critical analysis of published works on a particular topic while problem identification is based on the reviewed literature. Understanding where the gaps are in published literature presents an opportunity to meaningfully engage on a research topic and make a worthwhile contribution to knowledge. This approach may be applied to the formulation of theses, journal articles, book chapters or books. It requires the ability to clearly demonstrate where the proposed work fits into existing literature and advances knowledge creation.
